Late fall, about this time every year, the leaves have mostly fallen except for one rare native tree. Its leaves are bright red and almost seem lit from within. It's a rare jewel and hard to grow from a cutting. If you see the native Sourwood tree on your land, you are lucky. Sourwoods usually grow at an angle to the ground.

The gorgeous color of this native tree, Oxydendrum arboreum, is a joy inducing sight!
